The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership as exceptional and unprecedented, citing the remarkable transformation of Abuja’s infrastructure in just two years as a testament of his performance.
Speaking to journalists during a routine inspection of key projects earmarked for commissioning, Wike lauded the rapid strides made under the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He emphasized that the visible progress across the FCT is a direct result of Tinubu’s decisive leadership.
“From the FCT where I superintend by his mandate, you will know that Mr. President has done very well. It’s unprecedented,” Wike declared.
Calling on Nigerians across the political divide to objectively assess the impact of the current administration, Wike appealed for national unity in recognizing and supporting genuine progress.
“Even if you don’t like somebody as a person, when he does a good thing, you say yes, I’m not in good terms with him, I don’t like him, but he is doing well or he has done well,” he stated.
Wike underscored the significant improvements in the nation’s capital, crediting the ongoing transformation to President Tinubu’s visionary style of governance.
“All of us were critics that Abuja has not been working and now Abuja is working. Who has made it to work? It’s Mr. President. So, Mr. President has done very well,” he said.
During the inspection tour, the Minister was warmly received by jubilant residents chanting “four plus four,” which he interpreted as support for President Tinubu’s re-election.
“What they are saying is that Mr. President has done four years and we should give him another four years,” Wike noted with enthusiasm, expressing pride in being part of an administration delivering on its commitments.
He provided detailed updates on several high-impact projects, including the completion of the 15-kilometre OSEX II to Wasa road, linking Apo and Wasa Districts.
Other projects nearing completion include the Arterial Road N20 interchange across the ONEX and the Collector Road CN8 (Asuquo Okon Way), stretching from Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) to Arterial Road N1 (Olusegun Obasanjo Way).
Responding to concerns over the lack of street lights on the newly completed OSEX II to Wasa road, Wike clarified that the project was initiated more than a decade ago under a previous administration.
He said however, that consistent with President Tinubu’s dedication to continuity, his government has prioritized its completion and noted that CGC has already submitted a quotation for installation of the streetlights.
“Be rest assured that we are going to put streetlights on that OSEX II, Apo to Wasa,” he assured.
Reaffirming his commitment to excellence, Wike stressed that the FCT Administration will continue striving to provide world-class infrastructure and services for Abuja residents.
He also called on citizens to play their part in sustaining development.
“The people of Abuja deserve the best, and the contractors are doing their best, I can assure you that. For me, there can not be anything less. All we are saying is for the residents also to perform their own obligation so that we will all work together for the interest of Abuja and the entire Nigeria,” Wike concluded.
